About the recipe

This is the perfect fireside drink for late summer camping when the days start to shorten and there's a chill in the air, for the long winter evenings, or when you're feeling under the weather – and it's just as comforting without the alcohol.

little batch Wild Blackberry Syrup works just as well as Spiced Elderberry. Why not try both and see which you prefer!

Ingredients

Ingredients

  • 25ml little batch Spiced Elderberry Syrup

  • Juice of a quarter to a half of fresh orange

  • Freshly boiled water

  • Garnish ideas: fresh or dried orange wheel, star anise, cloves or a cinnamon stick.

  • A single measure of dark rum or whisky if you’re making an alcoholic hot toddy.

Preparation

Method

  • Boil the kettle. 

  • Meanwhile add the orange juice and Spiced Elderberry Syrup to a mug.

  • If you're making a hot toddy, add your spirit.

  • Add the hot water.

  • Garnish/add extra spices and leave for a couple of minutes to infuse.

  • Enjoy!
